ABOUT

Amanda Thomsen is a product designer and visual artist working across design, strategy and visual arts. Amanda is currently enrolled in the Post-Baccalaureate Painting and Drawing program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Her educational background also includes a postgraduate specialization in Visual Narratives and studies in illustration at the London College of Arts.

With eight years of professional experience in product design, Amanda has built a multidisciplinary background in collection development and management, creative direction, trend research, and consumer behavior.

​

Her professional experience in Brazil includes leading tabletop collection development at Oxford Porcelanas, one of the country’s leading tableware manufacturers, and serving as Product Design Manager at Westwing, an international home and living company. In this role, she oversaw collection development and led product projects for collaborations with brands and cultural partners including ELLE Magazine, Netflix, Tarsila do Amaral S.A., and Rock in Rio Festival.

Product curation is a key area of Amanda’s expertise. Her experience includes curating international product assortments, sourcing global suppliers, and conducting market research through major design and industry trade shows.

Alongside her design career, Amanda has developed an independent visual art practice that increasingly occupies the center of her work, bringing together her background in design, material research and visual narratives.
